What is it about?
The CL260 – Cloud-Based Storage Using Red Hat Ceph course provides comprehensive knowledge to professionals who install and operate Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenStack environments, covering the architecture, basic usage, and configuration options of Red Hat Ceph cloud storage technology. In this course, students will learn how to use Ceph storage in hybrid cloud environments—such as Amazon S3 or OpenStack Swift-compatible object storage environments—in addition to on-premises environments, and will also explore Ceph’s native and iSCSI-based block storage and shared file storage capabilities. The training is based on Red Hat Ceph Storage version 5.0.
Who is this course recommended for?
We primarily recommend this course to enterprise storage administrators and cloud operators who use or plan to use the Red Hat Ceph Storage software solution in on-premises or cloud environments in conjunction with OpenShift or OpenStack platforms, and who wish to learn about its installation and management. In addition to the above, the course may also be of interest to developers who create applications using cloud-based storage solutions and wish to familiarize themselves with various (cloud-based) storage solutions and the client-side access methods available for them.
Prerequisite for starting the course:
The training does not require a specific degree, but a degree in computer science (at the high school or college level) is an advantage; RHCSA certification or equivalent experience is recommended; it is also helpful if the participant already has knowledge and experience in storage administration.
Planned topics for the course
- Installing and managing a Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster on commodity servers.
- Performing common administrative tasks via the web-based interface.
- Creating and expanding storage pools provided by the Ceph cluster, and configuring access controls.
- Accessing Red Hat Ceph Storage using object, block, and file-based methods.
- Analyzing and fine-tuning the performance of Red Hat Ceph Storage.
- Integration of Red Hat OpenStack Platform’s image, object, block, and file storage with a Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster.
- Integrating the OpenShift Container Platform with a Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster.
