DO322 Course (2 days)

What is it about?

The DO322 – Red Hat OpenShift Installation in Practice course introduces students to the principles and practical aspects of deploying OpenShift clusters in various environments, ranging from setting up proof-of-concept (PoC) environments to building production systems. The course also specifically addresses how to identify and manage customization requirements in enterprise environments that arise due to differing runtime infrastructures (cloud, virtual, physical). The course is based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform version 4.6; both the theoretical and practical content are built around this version.

Who is this course recommended for?

This course is designed for administrators and engineers working with cloud technologies who are involved in—or wish to become involved in—the design, scaling, and deployment of OpenShift-based cloud environments. The course may also be useful for professionals responsible for the secure operation, further development, and customization of these systems (SREs).

Prerequisite for starting the course:

There are no specific educational requirements for this training, but a degree in computer science (at the high school or college level) may be advantageous. To participate, it is strongly recommended that students take the DO280 – Red Hat OpenShift Administration II: Configuring Production Clusters course before enrolling in this OpenShift deployment course. “Equivalent Kubernetes knowledge” is not sufficient for this course, as any operations during the OpenShift cloud deployment that go beyond a minimal, fully default-configured Full Stack automated installation require knowledge of OpenShift cluster operators. It is also strongly recommended that prospective students already have Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration knowledge and/or RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) certification.

Planned topics for the course

  • Understanding the OpenShift installation process, comparing the IPI and UPI installation methods, and how to use them
  • Installing OpenShift in a cloud (IaaS) environment. General configuration of the installation and use of IPI installation (full-stack automation)
  • Installing OpenShift in a virtual environment. Installing an OpenShift cluster using the IPI and UPI methods on a hypervisor
  • Planning an OpenShift deployment without using an infrastructure provider. Preparing for an OpenShift deployment in environments where integration with the underlying infrastructure environment is not available
  • Installing OpenShift in environments without an infrastructure provider
  • An overview of the steps for deploying in environments without an infrastructure provider. Creating users and applications on newly deployed OpenShift clusters
